Sambucol was looking to distribute trials of their Natural Cold & Flu liquid capsules to primary shoppers during the cold & flu season.

The Solution

Sambucol distributed their offers through the Sampler Exchange targeting the primary shopper within Sampler’s Mom & Kids Audience Network.

Sampler’s Mom & Kids Network includes leading parenting website such as:

  • Canadian Mom Resource
  • Everyday Family
  • Bundoo
  • Mom365

Consumers who follow these parenting websites were invited to join a sampling program by filling out a quick consumer profile powered by Sampler.

That profile helped them match with samples from awesome brands like Sambucol. When a consumer that matched with the targeting perimeters pre-set by the brand connected, they were presented a list of samples that they could choose to trial.

Every consumer could select up to 4 samples and, if they chose to trial Sambucol, their product was delivered to their doorstep with other products from non-competing categories.

The sample was accompanied with a discount for their next purchase and Sampler followed up with a survey to help Sambucol gather insights on the consumer’s product satisfaction.

The Results

  • Sambucol distributed 1,250 hyper-targeted trials per week during the peak of the cold & flu season
  • 70% of consumers who participated in the sampling program registered for follow-up content from the brand
  • 41% of consumers who trialed the product provided feedback during the follow-up survey
  • 74% of consumers showcased an intent to purchase the product after trying it
  • Based on the product’s customer lifetime value, the campaign is projected to result in more than a 4X return on investment
