Financial Controller

As the Financial Controller for Sampler you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Sampler’s finance and accounting.


About You:

We are looking for an experienced financial controller, to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

About the Role:

Reporting a growing finance team your role will be to:

  •    Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans
  •    Monitor the financial performance of the company
  •    Compile and analyze financial reporting packages
  •    Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets
  •    Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
  •    Communicate financial metrics to senior management
  •    Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
  •    Manage the preparation and administration of employee agreements as well as payroll and benefits set-up.
  •    Keep up-to-date on current GAAP trends
  •    Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances

 

Specific Tasks Include:

Management

  1. Oversee the proper operations of the accounting function

 

Transactions

  1. Review accounts receivable and help collect as needed.  Record payments when necessary.
  2. Process payroll in a timely manner (ADP)
  3. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed (Monthly).  This includes credit card entries
  4. Maintain the chart of accounts
  5. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  6. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  7. HST processing (Quarterly)

 

Reporting

  1. Issue timely and complete financial statements (by the 10th of each month)
  2. Cash reporting, analysis and projections (Semi-Monthly)
  3. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  4. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics (Gross Margin)
  5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management (Monthly)
  6. Provide financial analyses as needed (Monthly)
  7. Monthly review and revisions with CEO

 

Compliance

  1. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual review
  2. Comply with local, province, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  3. File monthly and quarterly investor reports

 

What You Need:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and an Accounting Designation (CPA) is required
  • You think strategically but like to roll up your sleeves.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including eam The Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise.
  • You’re a creative problem solver who sees every challenge as an opportunity to accelerate progress.
